This is the first post of the purposed daily postings, lol. I got my VCP. Work has been quite the learning curve. I'm really impressed with the work culture. I'm not really impressed with the 80 km drive in though. I carpool with Pat most times. We will have to move waaaay out west at some point soon. Hopefully I'll get around to adding more stuff to this but it still needs a host, so until then this blog will have to stay on my treo.

IPv4 and IPv6 Reception with rsyslog

Back in the day, when you wanted to change the default protocols rsyslog would listen on, you would modify the /etc/default/rsyslog file, and set the RSYSLOGD_OPTIONS variable accordingly. In rsyslog 8.x, this has changed, now, we control these parameters through the main rsyslog configuration file, and in within the global parameters. [Solved] VMware Workstation 12 Copy and Paste with Ubuntu 16 open-vm-tools

I was trying to copy and paste from Ubuntu 16 and VMware workstation in Windows, and it didn't work. I generally SSH into the box using putty, so this usually isn't an issue, but today, I figured I may as well look into the issue. So, first I headed over to the vendor, where I found this KB: 2073803  which states: open-vm-tools-desktop package This optional package extends OVT with additional user-space programs and libraries to improve the interactive functionality of virtual machines. This package depends on X and therefore must be installed only when X is available.
